Amazon wants to make its video streaming service almost worldwide available in December and thus with the rival Netflix equal. In the announcement of the new broadcast “The Grand Tour”, it was said on Friday night that it would be available in 200 “countries and territories”. There were no further details. Netflix has been available in more than 190 countries since the beginning of the year, but has not yet made it into the Chinese market.
Amazon’s video service was only available in the USA, UK, Germany, Austria and Japan. The online retailer offers it as part of its Prime Abodienst, but also individually. Netflix and Amazon are investing massively in their own productions with well-known names like Adam Sandler or Woody Allen, in order to become more attractive to users. For “The Grand Tour” Amazon committed the team of the former BBC broadcast “Top Gear” around Jeremy Clarkson.
