A young boy, just 15 years old, was killed during an attack that occurred when he was cycling home with his friends on Caledonian Road in Islington, London. The police were called to the scene just after 7:30pm on Friday, with reports that there was a boy who had collapsed by the road. When the officers and ambulance services arrived, the single stab wound that had inflicted the boy proved to be fatal, and although they desperately tried to resuscitate him whilst crowd of onlookers watched in shock, they soon had to pronounce him dead as there was nothing left that they could do.
The attackers were 3 males, who had been walking up the road when they saw the cyclists. After stabbing the boy, he managed to get away and continue to cycle up the road, before soon collapsing. Two of the friends that were with him had their bikes stolen by the same attackers. The suspects left the scene soon after.
Although the victim has not yet been formally identified, his family has been notified. The motive for the attack is unknown, and detectives are keeping an open mind about what the motive could have been. The area would have been extremely busy at the time, so they are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward and provide the police with any information that they can use to find the attackers. The area is currently cordoned off by the police, and they are using sniffer dogs to try to track the attackers.
