Delta Air Lines said it will offer mobile messaging at no cost to its flights, starting October 1 this year.
“Never miss an important conversation while you’re on a Delta flight. Free messaging will be available on Delta Wi-Fi flights, enabled for use with iMessage, Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp, “the company said in a statement.
The company suggested that passengers verify that such applications are available on the cell phone before flying.
“We know that many Delta customers want or need to stay connected by air and ground, so we’re investing in an easy and free way to send and receive messages across some of the most popular global platforms,” said Tim Mapes , senior vice president and director of marketing for Delta.
Messages will not support the sending of photos, videos or SMS messages.
