Personnel from the emergency department stepped to the Eastfield Mall on Thursday night after a bomb threat was called. No suspicious thing was found after the arson and bomb squad swept the building.
SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB) — Emergency personnel we’re called to the Eastfield Mall in Springfield Thursday night after someone called in a bomb threat.
Both fire and police crews from Springfield responded to the scene. Aid to the Springfield Fire Commissioner, Dennis Leger, told us that someone called in the threat to Macy’s.
Employees working at Macy’s at the time were told to evacuate the store immediately.
An Arson and Bomb squad conducted a sweep of the building and found no suspicious packages.
As of about 9:30 p.m. Leger reports that they’ve cleared out of the area. Police continue to investigate the incident.
