The Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro is the new Samsung Bracelet that does not look and feel very different from last year’s Gear Fit 2 but is more water resistant (ready for those who like swimming), better rhythm reading cardiac and software improvements.

The Gear Fit 2 Pro came alongside Gear Sport as the new Samsung devices dedicated to the active life or people who like to exercise. Although in this aspect the two devices are very similar, in design the Gear Sport is more a watch than anything and is not as high-end as what the Gear S3 offers.

More waterproof design and a beautiful display
The Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro has the same design as its predecessor, which means that it is a bracelet with a curve AMOLED screen, a few bands of plastic resistant and relatively ergonomic.

Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro comes with GPS, Spotify and no fear of swimming pools

One of the changes that you will notice is that the band now closes like a belt, instead of the pin that was adjusted only by pressure.

In addition, the Gear Fit 2 Pro now has a 5ATM water resistance certification. which means it can be submerged up to 50 meters deep in the water for up to 50 minutes.

Also, the bracelet passed military durability tests MIL STD 810G that allows to offer more reliability in the daily use, be that is exposed to different blows, falls or extreme temperatures.

As for your screen, you find the same resolution of 216×432 pixels and a size of 1.5 inches that makes it long and sometimes causes your body to come out of small wrists.

Even so, you still find two buttons on the right edge that work mainly to open the menu or return to the Home screen.

Fitness and a focus on sport
The new 5ATM water resistance of the Gear Fit 2 Pro allows it to be suitable for swimming and Samsung has teamed up with Speedo to include Speedo On, an app that allows you to monitor swimming laps.

In addition, find GPS (same as its predecessor) that allows you to have more detail of your route, step or speed that you realize during your physical activity or fitness.

Also, the Gear Fit 2 Pro continues to have the ability to automatically monitor different types of physical activity.

In addition, you find other sports apps like MyFitnessPal, Endomondo, MapMyRun, UA Record and the different functions offered by Samsung Health.

However, Gear Fit 2 Pro does not run Android as many would like, but runs Tizen (including Knox), Samsung’s operating system.

Spotify offline
Samsung also brings innovations in areas outside of sports.

In Gear Fit 2 Pro, Spotify is present but now allows you to download your favorite music playlists so you can play them without having your cell phone with you. You need to be a subscribed user to Spotify (does not work with the free version).

This does not mean that the Gear Fit 2 Pro has cellular connectivity (LTE), but this reproduction works totally without Internet connection, once you have downloaded them.

The Gear Fit 2 Pro and Spotify allow you to download up to 500 songs that you store in the 4GB internal.

Gear Fit 2 Pro not only works with Samsung phones (Android 4.3 or higher), but also devices with Android 4.4 or higher or iPhone with iOS 9.0 or higher.
