Barbara Mikulski senator from Maryland Democrats the longest serving woman in history of congressional, announces not to run for elections come 2016. She was first elected in Senate by 1986 elections.

Scramble for the seat has begun with potential candidates showing interest. They could include Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown. She will be create a vacant in the state that gave Obama 62% votes in 2012.

Van Hollen is expected to also run for the given post. She has been ambitious to run for the seta state-wide. Cardin termed the retirement of Mikulski has bittersweet but stating further that she would be succeeded with the pool of talents from the Democrats.

Cardin never made a comment on who he would be expecting to run for the race saying that Mikulski had early informed him of her decision on Sunday.
