A man who was surfing in Lake Worth waters Sunday afternoon was attacked by a shark, according to a report by area officials.
The Palm Beach County Rescue Department said the shark bit the man – whose identity was not known – in the arm shortly before 2 p.m., according to the Sun Sentinel newspaper.
CBS 12 reported that the man was already out of the water taken care of by the lifeguards when rescuers arrived.
Although rare, at least two shark attacks have been reported in Florida in recent months. In August, a shark bit a 3-year-old girl at Bathtub Beach in Stuart.
In July, a man was bitten by a shark in his legs when he was swimming in Haulover Park in Miami-Dade.
