Jackson Martinez, a Colombian footballer, is currently playing for F. C. Porto in the Primeira Liga. He is not only the striker for his team, but the captain as well. Having netted 85 times in his 120 appearances for Porto, Martinez has been viewed as a hot prospect, with many big clubs deliberating about whether or not he would be a good fit for them.
Arsene Wenger, in charge of Arsenal, has spoken extremely highly of Martinez, praising his physical attributes. Wenger believes that the 27 year old would be very well suited to playing in the Premier League, as he uses his body intelligently and is a great finisher. However well Martinez has played in the past, there are still some fears about whether or not he will do more for the team than just score goals.
In the past, Porto have sold some of their star players for huge fees, with Ricardo Carvalho and James Rodriguez being just two examples of this. Martinez, as well as his agent, have also hinted that he plans to leave Porto in the summer, with rumours flying around that Manchester United were interested in him. The contract that Martinez has with Porto expires at the end of the season, which means that he will soon be eligible on a free, which has sparked the attention of many different clubs.
German clubs Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich also have their eye on the prized star for some time now, meaning that Arsenal will have to move quickly very soon if they are serious about acquiring some great new talent.
