The Giants have some work to do in the coming weeks. Running back Saquon Barkley and quarterback Daniel Jones are set to become free agents in March. After Saturday’s loss to the Eagles, Jones was non-committal about returning, but he later said he would “love” a future with the Giants. He noted there’s a business side to it, but expressed his gratitude for being a part of the organization. Jones had his best season in 2021 under Brian Daboll, throwing 15 touchdowns and five interceptions, while running for 708 yards and seven touchdowns. The Giants could use the transition or franchise tag on Jones if they can’t reach agreement on a new deal. He said he’s aware of what the top quarterbacks in the league are making, and is confident of a big pay increase over his $965,000 base salary and $8.365 million in total salary this season.
