The Vandalia Fire Department were initially called to the 300 block of North Dixie Drive at around 12:50 a.m. after receiving reports of a fire at Oscar’s Sports Bar & Grills, Vandalia dispatch told News Center 7.

When Vandalia Fire arrived at the scene, they upgraded the fire to a “working fire” and called for mutual aid from surrounding cities: Tipp City, Englewood, Dayton, Butler Township, and Clayton, dispatch informed.

Authorities blocked off traffic, specifically the southbound lanes on North Dixie Drive, during the incident, dispatch said.

Smoke was visibly seen coming out of the roof, entrance, and back doors, according to footage News Center 7 received from the scene.

Crews at the scene reported low or no visibility due to the dense smoke inside the commercial building, dispatch confirmed.

Firefighters were filmed forcing their entry into the locked building with hammers and picks, seen in the photos below.

However, it is unknown if there was anyone inside the building at the time of the fire or if any evacuations of surrounding businesses took place, according to dispatch.
