Today Nvidia not only sends the GeForce GTX 1660 Super (test) to the market, but also announces another graphics card with the GeForce GTX 1650 Super . Compared to the previous GTX 1650 is a change of the GPU and memory, which promises significantly more power.
Nvidia promises a significant performance increase over the previous GeForce GTX 1650 (test) and a doubling of performance compared to the older GeForce GTX 1050 with Pascal graphics chip. The release of the GTX 1650 Super is scheduled for November 22, 2019.
TU116 instead of TU117 and GDDR6 instead of GDDR5
While the GTX 1650 with TU117 uses the smallest Turing GPU, the GTX 1650 Super is based on TU116, but in a highly circumcised form. Of the up to 1,536 shader units of the TU116, only 1,280 are active on the GTX 1650 Super. Compared to the GTX 1650, however, this still means 43 percent more shader units. In addition, the GPU clock at 1,530 MHz (base) and 1,725 MHz (boost) is a bit faster. Unchanged, a 128-bit wide memory interface is used. However, switching from GDDR5 at 4,000MHz to GDDR6 at 6,000MHz brings a 50 percent increase in memory bandwidth to 192GB / s. The size of the video memory remains unchanged at 4 GB.
The size of the graphics card, the number and type of connections as well as the power supply leaves Nvidia the board partners, from which various own designs are to be expected. However, Nvidia calls a Total Graphics Power (TGP) of 100 watts, which requires the use of an additional socket for power supply in addition to the PCIe x16 slot (up to 75 watts) needed. The previous GTX 1650 is specified with 75 watts TGP and does not require any additional power connection, which is also available for some partner cards for greater clock margin.
Start on November 22nd at the unknown price
According to Nvidia, the GeForce GTX 1650 Super will be available from November 22nd. But what the significantly drilled entry-level model in Nvidia’s Turing family will cost, the manufacturer has not yet revealed. The previous GTX 1650 costs depending on the version between 150 and 200 euro.
